After a Century in Downtown Portland, Bridgetown Printing
Expands Operations with Move to New Swan Island Location
- New larger facility offers clients expanded services including digital printing, fulfillment and mailing -

Portland, Ore. – February 2, 2007 – Having outgrown its familiar Pearl District location, Bridgetown Printing will expand operations by leasing 48,000 square feet at 5300 North Channel Avenue in the Swan Island Industrial Park. The 40-employee company is scheduled to move to Swan Island in March 2007, leaving downtown Portland after an impressive 104 year run.

Bridgetown Printing’s expansion comes at the end of a record business year. Coinciding with the move, the company plans to hire 8 to 10 new employees, purchase new equipment, and replace all three of its high-speed printing presses with two new Komori LS 6-color 40” coater presses. The new presses are fully automated and offer closed loop color. One has perfecting capability, the ability to print both sides at once. Additionally, the purchase of new bindery and mailing equipment will allow expanded finishing capabilities which were nearly impossible in the past due to the former location’s space constraints.

The move from 19,000 square feet to 48,000 square feet and the proximity of Swan Island to Portland’s downtown core businesses will allow the company to offer high quality digital printing and fulfillment services as well. Digital print on demand and variable data printing have become the fastest growing segment of the commercial printing market. Bridgetown’s new Xerox DocuColor 7000 has been producing full color digital printing at a fast rate since its installation earlier in the year.

“We’re excited to finally be able to stretch our wings,” said Bridgetown’s president, Ron Brown. “Our new presses will give us much greater capacity than we have today, and we’ve been able to design the workflow in our new building in an extremely efficient manner. The addition of mailing services is a natural fit for us – literally 25 percent of what we print is distributed via U.S. Mail. We’ll also have ample parking for our customers and employees, something we haven’t been able to offer in our downtown location.”
